The final stage of the Palatine Burial project was
an installation in the cryptoporticus of the American Academy in
Rome. A filigree composed of interlinking shaped stainless steel
wire elements was installed within the vaults of the massive masonry.
This construction formed a hybrid grotto. Barbed details within
each link caused the mass to behave like a swarm.
