Hiving Quilt

Hiving Quilt is a collaborative installation with Halifax ceramist Neil Forrest. Developed for the Habourfront exhibition Duologue, the installation is a fabric of images attached to the gallery wall. A tiled quilt of digital drawings on transclucent mylar generate a field of interconnected biomorphic elements. A delicate suspension of stainless steel wires allows the quilt to float off the wall surface and assume its own billowing topography. Copper and steel pins and sutures at the overlapping sheets reveal the handcrafted and piecework nature of the assembly.
